GALERI PETRONAS together with the Secretariat of the Merdeka Award and the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, proudly present the Merdeka Award: Celebrating the Culture of Excellence and Sketches of Science: Photo Sessions with Nobel Laureates exhibitions, featuring portraits of distinguished figures who have contributed significantly in the fields of science and humanity. The two exhibitions are a celebration of the culture of excellence and pays tribute to the recipients for their dedication and work culture, by recognising their qualities or excellence in making a myriad of discoveries, arising from a wide range of possibilities, in their search for a better understanding of the phenomenon of nature and humanity. The exhibition is intended to encourage and foster awareness among Malaysians on the importance of a culture of excellence, a concept that emphasises the norms of good behaviour and execution of effective work at every stage of implementation, regardless of whether the work is done formally or otherwise, or whether to achieve a goal or simply in performing daily service routines. The presence of the eminent figures of science and thinkers in the portraitures whom are the recipients of the Nobel Prize and Merdeka Award in both exhibitions will provide a fresh climate to further enrich the artistic innovation ecosystem, to be among the factors generating outstanding cultural arts knowledge.
