Galeri PETRONAS Ceases Operations in Suria KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 May 2021 – Galeri PETRONAS has ceased to operate as a public gallery as of May this year following a realignment of its operating model to adapt to the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It might be commonly understood that a major art institution funded by a state-owned oil and gas company will be a permanent fixture in the Malaysian arts and culture landscape.
A walk through an art gallery is often a quiet, contemplative experience. But what if every painting had a soundtrack, or sparked a melody in the viewer’s mind?
GALERI PETRONAS today launched MANIFEST: Modernism of Merdeka, an exhibition to showcase how Malaysian architecture had shaped the transformation of the nation during its pre- and post-independence period of 1950s and 1960s.
GALERI PETRONAS yesterday launched a publication to complement its ongoing ALEGORI: Contemporary Art Expressions from Malay Manuscripts exhibition which explores the concepts and metaphorical thinking derived from classical Malay manuscripts.
