What is the GALERI PETRONAS Art Resource Centre?

The Art Resource Centre is a dedicated research and resource space designed to deepen engagement with contemporary art. It serves as a bridge between our exhibitions and critical discourse, offering access to art publications, exhibition catalogues, artist archives and curatorial materials. The Art Resource Centre is part of our commitment to making art accessible and fostering cultural dialogue.

What kind of materials are in the Art Resource Centre collection?

The Art Resource Centre holds contemporary art publications, exhibition catalogues, artist monographs, curatorial essays, and archival materials related to the PETRONAS Art Collection as well as Malaysian and Southeast Asian contemporary art.

Is access to the Art Resource Centre free?

There is no additional fee to use the Art Resource Centre. Is the Art Resource Centre open to the public?

 We are committed to making the Art Resource Centre accessible and welcoming to all audiences interested in contemporary art. Visitors with a valid gallery admission ticket can browse our collection and utilise the Art Resource Centre for free. Can I conduct research at the Art Resource Centre?

Yes, the Art Resource Centre is designed as a research space.  Please email us in advance at galeripetronas@petronas.com to schedule your research time and ensure material availability.

When will the Art Resource Centre be open to the public?

Public access to the Art Resource Centre will commence with the phased permanent opening of GALERI PETRONAS beginning from June 2027.  During the First Glimpse preview phase from August 2026 to March 2027, resource centre services are excluded. Can I borrow books from the Art Resource Centre?

While visitors are welcome to browse and read the books in the Art Resource Centre, please note that these books are available for reference and reading within the premises only and cannot be borrowed or taken off-site.

What are the opening hours for the Art Resource Centre?

The Art Resource Centre will operate on a schedule aligned with gallery hours. Please visit our website or check with the Information Desk upon arrival for updates.

Are there digital resources available through the Art Resource Centre?
